Chicken Road 2 is a casino slot game developed by InOut, a relatively new name in the industry, but already making waves with their engaging and innovative games. Released to great fanfare, this sequel promises an even more immersive experience than its predecessor, taking players on a wild Chicken Road 2 game demo adventure down Chicken Road. As we dive into the gameplay mechanics of Chicken Road 2, let’s see what InOut has cooked up for us.
Theme and Design
Chicken Road 2 is set in the Wild West, or rather, it takes place on Chicken Road itself, where cowboys and outlaws alike are chasing after – you guessed it – chickens. The game has a distinct rustic feel to it, with wooden signs, old wagons, and tumbleweeds scattered about the reels. It’s a bit of an odd choice for a theme, but InOut pulls it off in style, immersing players in this absurd world where animals rule supreme.
The design is quite colorful, to say the least, with bright blues, reds, and yellows dominating the palette. Each symbol has its own unique animations and effects, making interactions between them feel almost palpable. At first glance, it may seem chaotic – but trust me when I say that this manic energy actually complements the game’s dynamic gameplay.
Symbols
So, what kind of symbols are we dealing with in Chicken Road 2? We’ve got the usual assortment: low-pays (A-9) and high-paying icons such as Scorpions, Wolves, Bears, Cattle, Sheep, and finally – our main attraction – Chickens. Yes, there’s a dedicated chicken symbol that serves multiple purposes.
While some might find it unusual to have chickens serve as both the highest paying icon and also appear in bonus symbols (more on this later), I’ll argue that InOut effectively used their popularity and charm to build an endearing theme.
Low-paying icons pay out small amounts, ranging from 0.8x to 1.5x bet for five of a kind. High-pays are slightly more enticing – between 4-10 times the initial stake for five consecutive animals on an active line. Of course, this varies by combination and win multipliers (more below).
Payouts
Chicken Road 2’s payout structure might seem unbalanced at first glance due to its vast range of winning combinations and rather generous top prizes for just one symbol. Each animal has unique win values that apply when landing on a payline with other symbols, creating an intricate web of payouts.
Wild Chickens play their part in all this by filling any empty spaces needed to complete the required wins (I’ll explain more about wilds later). High-paying icons offer up to 25x total wager for just three-of-a-kind – not exactly small stakes. What’s interesting here is how low-pays blend together, creating a surprisingly stable and responsive balance of reward vs risk.
Wilds
Now we have our Wild Chicken symbol: an egg-laying cluck that’ll make your day. Chickens act as wild, filling in any empty reel positions (up to five) to form a valid combination or set off the free spins bonus round when at least three appear on adjacent reels.
Here’s what makes ’em special – besides having 2x to 10x multipliers with other symbols (I’ll get back to this): chickens can create more winning combinations by appearing in a group, which is crucial for triggering various bonus rounds or the feature that gives its name: Chicken Road.
Scatters
While there’s no dedicated Scatter icon per se – Chicken Road serves as an on-the-fly substitute when needed. We have three Scorpion icons – and these serve multiple purposes (we’ll get back to this).
In essence, if you need a Wild in Chicken Road 2 to fill out your win, the symbol that triggers Free Spins or more will jump into action.
Bonus Features
Time to explore those wacky bonus features! As alluded above:
- Wild Chickens : We’ve already touched upon these symbols.
- Chicken Road Scatter : Now it’s clear what Chicken Road truly represents: an opportunity. When you hit three of the same Scorpion icons across three or more adjacent reels, this mode is activated.
The scatter that initiated Free Spins can be considered as either a 2x (for three) to 100x (maximum for five on a reel set by 1-5) multiplier applied to wins during gameplay. It also acts like ‘any’ wild in the following situation: you have less than two winning combinations with only Chickens and there’s enough room left over – these chickens could use their potential as additional high-paying items.
Free Spins
In Chicken Road, triggering free spins is a relatively rare occurrence that occurs when one or more Chicken Road (Scorpion) Scatters show up anywhere on any three reels. At the same time, with each reel appearing at least once, we see how they expand winning possibilities greatly through multiple factors: multiplier boosts of x1, 2x, 5x and in some cases even reaching up to an amazing 10x all wins – a staggering ten times your initial stake! It looks almost impossible but indeed you might get lucky.
During this round, new scorpions will generate from Chickens at each turn until additional bonus symbols don’t show anymore or there are four combinations. At the end of every single spin after getting a combo it triggers ‘more’ for each animal (not limited to maxing out either). I could go on describing mechanics – and this leads us directly into…
RTP
When examining how much return-to-player rates contribute towards overall game value, I discovered InOut employed an aggressive 96% RTP. If so many slots would have 94%, then yes that’s exactly what it is but do you really care? As well as keeping everything competitive (even after adjusting wins according to specific line) your main gain could reach up from those relatively high possible values of free spins!
In general, however there should probably remain no room left for improvement except when thinking through the whole value equation on which many other factors contribute than what we usually measure as an optimal.
Volatility
As you might expect given its rather modest maximum win limit compared to its slot’s volatility it comes out at 10x. Given a combination of low-value winning possibilities along with potentially great multipliers – while also giving up little for high wins due mostly due huge wilds and generous Free Spins rewards.
That said though I think this still stays pretty volatile in most cases because so much more can happen when landing five particular animals even within bonus modes…
